BUT OOPS!THE SKIPPER IS THE NEWEST OF ALL OF THE BEECHCRAFT DESIGNS, HAVING FIRST BEEN RELEASED TO THE MARKETPLACE IN 1979!DESIGNED AS A FANTASTIC TRAINER OR 2 PLACE TOURING AIRCRAFT, IT FEATURES FANTASTIC 360 DEGREE VISABILITY.GOOD CONTROL HARMONYAMPLE STORAGE AREA BEHIND THE SEATSDISTINTIVE T-TAIL90 DEGREE OPENABLE DOORS ON BOTH SIDESAS A NEW DESIGN AIRPLANE 20 OR 30 YEARS NEWER THAN MOST GENERAL AVIATION AIRPL...ANES, IT ALSO FEATURES:A MODERN, CLEAN 6 PACK DASH LAYOUT, WITH ALL THE ROOM YOU COULD WANT TO INSTALL ANY AVIONICSA PROPER CENTER STACK FOR RADIOSMODERN CIRCUIT PROTECTION, SWITCHGEAR, ENGINE GUAGES, ETC.COMFORTABLE, ADJUSTABLE HIGHBACK BUCKET SEATS.IF YOU, LIKE ME, ALWAYS THOUGHT THE SKIPPER LOOKS VERY MUCH LIKE THE PIPER TOMAHAWK, WHICH CAME OUT BARELY A YEAR BEFORE THE SKIPPER, YOU WOULD BE RIGHT.SEEMS LIKE PIPER SHELVED THE TOMAHAWK AFTER IT’S DESIGN AND DIDN’T BUILD IT RIGHT AWAY.THE DESIGNER LEFT PIPER WITHOUT A NON-COMPETE CLAUSE, AND WENT TO WORK FOR BEECHCRAFT!AHA!THE DIFFERENCES IN THE TWO AIRPLANES CAN BE SUMMED UP IN 2 WORDS.  INTENDED CUSTOMER !!THE PRICE OF THE SKIPPER WAS OVER $5, 000 THAN THE TOMAHAWK, BECAUSE IT WAS FAR BETTER FINISHED INSIDE AND OUT (THE TOMAHAWK HAS SO MUCH THIN PLASTIC INSIDE THAT DIDN’T EVEN HOLD UP WHEN NEWER, AND MOST LOOKED RATTY THEN AND ARE RATTY NOW!BEECHCRAFT EXPECTED TO SELL THEIR AIRPLANES TO PEOPLE THAT WOULDWANT TO MOVE UP THE LADDER TO THE BONANZA OR THE BARON, SO THE FIT AND FINISH WAS FAR NICER, MORE SOUNDPROOFING WAS INSTALLED, THE TOUCH AND LOOK OF EVERY PART WAS FAR BETTER.AS IT TURNS OUT, ALL TOMAHAWKS WERE USED FOR FLIGHT TRAINING, WHILE VERY FEW SKIPPERS WERE.HENCE THIS AIRPLANES VERY LOW TOTAL TIME OF 2, 362 SINCE NEW !!MOST TOMAHAWKS ARE PUSHING 10, 000 HOURS!!THE FLIP SIDE OF LOW TOTAL TIME IS THAT THIS AIRPLANE HAS NOT BEEN FLOWN A LOT PER YEAR.  IT WOULD BE UNDERSTANDABLE IF YOU WERE TO GUESS THAT IT STILL HAD THE UNMAJORED ORIGINAL ENGINE, ORIGINAL PAINT, GLASS, INTERIOR, ETC.BUT NOT THIS AIRPLANE!!ENGINE OVERHAULED IN 1986, BUT THEN NOT FLOWN MUCH UNTIL 2001, WHEN THEY PULLED THE ENGINE AGAIN AND DID A COMPLETE TEARDOWN AND REPLACE AS REQUIRED!!THIS INCLUDED AN OVERHAULED CRANKSHAFT, NEW CAM AND LIFTERS, BEARINGS ETC.SINCE 2001, THE AIRPLANE HAS BEEN USED A REASONABLE 500 HOURS, AND THE LAST ANNUAL JUST EXPIRED 6/1/2019!IN 2006, WITH THE FRESH ENGINE HUMMING AWAY, THIS NICE AIRPLANE WAS TREATED TO A REFRESH, INSIDE AND OUT!STRIP AND REPAINT IN MODERN ACRYLIC, MATTERHORN WHITE WITH REGIMENTAL BLUE AND CUMULOUS GREY METALLIC.  THE PAINT LOOKS GREAT TODAY!!ALSO NEW WINDOWS AND WINDSHIELDAND NEW SEAT UPHOLSTRY, SIDE PANELS AND CARPETING!NO WONDER THIS AIRPLANE LOOKS SO GOOD!!BUT ABOUT THAT OOPS!WHILE TAXIING ON A GRASS AREA THAT WAS WET AND SOFT, THE NOSEGEAR SANK IN, ALLOWING THE PROP TO STRIKE THE GRASS.IF YOU LOOK AT THE PROFILE PIC OF THE PROP, YOU CAN SEE THE BEND IN 1 TIP.THE ENGINE DID NOT DIE AS A RESULT, BUT THE RULES SAY YOU HAVE TO INSPECT THE ENGINE ANYWAY.YOU DON’T HAVE TO MAJOR IT OF COURSE!!IT STILL HAS 1, 500 HOURS TO GO TILL RECOMMENDED TBO.AND YOU WILL LIKELY HAVE TO REPLACE THE PROP, I WOULDN’T WANT TO GUARENTEE IT WILL OVERHAUL.SO THAT’S WHAT THIS AIRPLANE NEEDS, A NEW OWNER TO REPLACE THE PROP, FERRY THE COMPLETELY UNDAMAGED AIRFRAME HOME TO THEIR HOME BASE, AND HAVE SOMEONE THERE DO THE REQUIRED INSPECTION.THE AIRPORT THIS AIRPLANE IS LOCATED AT IS A SLEEPY LITTLE UNSECURED AIRPORT THAT LOOKS LIKE THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT.  I DO NOT KNOW OF ANY REAL MECHANICS BASED THERE.SOLD WITH AIRFRAME AND ENGINE LOGBOOKS SINCE DAY 1, FAA AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATEFAA BILL OF SALE.AND THE KEYS!!LOCATED AT THE MANVILLE NEW JERSEY AIRPORT (IN THE COUNTRY, NOT THE BIG CITY PART OF NEW JERSEY).WE WILL PAY THE TIEDOWN FEE FOR 30 DAYS FROM THE END OF THE AUCTION, AND YOU CAN CONTINUE IT AT YOUR OWN COST IF YOU REQUIRE MORE TIME.NICER THAN 95% OF THE FLEET, LOW TIMES, LOW COST!!GREAT FIRST OR LAST AIRPLANE!CHEAP!!
