This is an antique original Gustave Baumann Green Gate Orchard Woodblock Print. This print would have been produced in 1923. It is signed by the artist, the title is noted and it is numbered 64 out of 100, all in pencil below the print area. His stamp appears above the signature..It is matted and framed. The frame is a simple narrow wooden frame, with blue paint around the edges and a gold paint on the center. I have not taken this from the frame but the back cover paper is missing. Th...e framed size is about 16 1/4" tall X 17 3/4" wide, the print showing to the edges of the matte is 10 3/4" tall X 11 1/2" wide. The print is bright and fresh, good strong color. The frame has quite a bit of scratching and flaking to the surface. There is some reflection seen in the glass at the top. Gustave Baumann was born in Magdenburg, Germany in 1891. His family Moved to the US in that same year. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago until returning to Germany to study. He returned to the US in 1908 and began producing colored woodcuts.
