"Mr. Hoffman, who was born in Philadelphia, attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and worked briefly as an assistant to the sculptor Paul Manship. His first New York exhibition was in 1956 at the Grand Central Art Gallery, which represented him for the rest of his life.
His work is in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the National Academy of Design. His public sculptures include an "Ascension" at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, a "Descent From the Cross" at St. John's Church in Southampton, L.I., and a "Pieta" at the American Cathedral in Rome."
