NORTHEAST REGION 1989 NATIONAL JAMBOREE PATCH
In the early 1910's, the BSA split up the USA into 12 different geographic territories - based on the US Federal Reserve system - the old "12 Regions". Only the Region Executives were allowed to have and wear region insignia. In the fall of 1972, the BSA realigned the territories into 6 different areas. Around 1990, they realigned the areas into 4 regions and it is this way today. ... It was not until the 1970's that Scouts were allowed access to region patches. In the early 1990's, National Supply began making region patches to sell to everyone.
