Received new information on these and felt compelled to revise this listing for accuracy:The sisters and their parents were evidently all born in England. Eliza was born and died in England and Caroline was born in England in 1820 and died in Guelph, Ontario, Canada 1909. Caroline was born in England in 1820 and died in Canada in 1909.
The invoice from the last time they were purchased in 1977 is on the back of Eliza’s work contains information that cannot be validated and should not be a consideration of value. The inscription is written as follows:“Two American samplers. c. 1780-1810. Made by Caroline Lacy, the Great-Grandmother of Meg Lacy (President(sp?) of Corning Glass [Works]), and her great aunt, Eliza.”
