Item Description: Harper & Brothers, New York, 1956. Hardcover. Book Condition: Good+/Very Good-. Dust Jacket Condition: Good/Good+. Illustrated by Carl Burgur (illustrator). First Edition/First printing. Drawings; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 158 pages; Original edition, 1st printing. Book bound in original black quarter cloth with tweed patterned pale green paper covered boards. Titles brightly in gilt to spine. Light yel...low colored pictorial dust jacket retains the 1st issue publisher price of $2.75 to the unclipped top corner of the front flap. Publisher codes 7042A and 7043B to front flap and rear flaps respectively; 4769 to rear panel.Book has corners bumped still retaining some sharpness, with spine tight with all pages fanning easily, previous owner's signature to front paste down, Dust Jacket has a couple of insect holes (see pics) not affecting the book at all, price intact with vibrant color, some paper loss to the head and heal of the spine (see pictures) and minor chipping to the flap folds and extremities. Burgur's handsome illustrations enhance the story, the jacket points to a 1st printing. Protected by mylar/brodart protector. A great gift for Christmas!
