The plaque believed to be of either Volkstedt or Dresden manufacture with the likelihood of it being Dresden and sculpted by H. Rock although there are no marks to be found apart from the hand pencilled numbers ' No 222 ' and blue painted device or letter mark. Believed to date to c1895 - c1905 or thereabouts.This beautiful plaque is very rare as it has it's original purposefully made matching porcelain like, gesso frame , it can be taken out of the frame if desired and still hung having the facility to do so in the manufacturing of the plaque .Overall in the frame measures ; ( 25.4cm ) 10" inches high x ( 38cm ) 14.7/8" inches across .The plaque measures ; ( 17.8cm ) 7" inches high x ( 30.7cm ) 12.1/8" inches across The plaque and frame do have some damage being, the maiden shown holding the stag has lost her hand and the maiden underneath her has a fine hairline showing and one of the maidens heads has been broken off at the neck and reglued back on and other than this with with no other damage to the plaque itself.The frame is rare and has protected the plaque well but has suffered some damage, due to a previous owner being over zealous in trying to clean the frame spoiling the gessos decorative mouldings and there are also some little snips and chips to the moulding and which is all best described by viewing the pictures .All the above mentioned only commensurate with many years of use, age and display and with the many pictures showing it's condition where it can be judged on it's own merit, so please do enlarge and check these out carefully if it is of interest. A beautiful large framed green and white Jasper ware bisque porcelain wall plaque depicting a beautiful 3 dimensional mythological scene of six nude maidens on rolling sea waves along with a large stag, swan and eagle the plque showing superb and intractely fine detail .
The plaque believed to be of either Volkstedt or Dresden manufacture with the likelihood of it being Dresden and sculpted by H. Rock although there are no marks to be found apart from the hand pencilled numbers ' No 222 ' and blue painted device or letter mark. Believed to date to c1895 - c1905 or thereabouts.
This beautiful plaque is very rare as it has it's original purposefully made matching porcelain like, gesso frame , it can be taken out of the frame if desired and still hung having the facility to do so in the manufacturing of the plaque .
Overall in the frame measures ; ( 25.4cm ) 10" inches high x ( 38cm ) 14.7/8" inches across .
The plaque measures ; ( 17.8cm ) 7" inches high x ( 30.7cm ) 12.1/8" inches across The plaque and frame do have some damage being, the maiden shown holding the stag has lost her hand and the maiden underneath her has a fine hairline showing andone of the maidens heads has been broken off at the neck and reglued back on and other than this with with no other damage to the plaque itself.
The frame is rare and has protected the plaque well but has suffered some damage, due to a previous owner being over zealous in trying to clean the frame spoiling the gessos decorative mouldings and there are also some little snips and chips to the moulding and which is all best described by viewing the pictures .
All the above mentioned only commensurate with many years of use, age and display and with the many pictures showing it's condition where it can be judged on it's own merit, so please do enlarge and check these out carefully if it is of interest.
