*** Antique Chinese Dk Blue Silk Gauze 9 Gold Couched Dragons Robe *** From a collection of antique Chinese textiles stored for years comes this 19th century dark blue silk gauze robe with 9 metallic gold couched dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls amidst scrolling clouds and ocean waves. There are 3 dragons on the front, 3 dragons on the back, 1 dragons on each shoulder, and one dragon under the front piece. All of the embroidery is in excellent condition except for a tiny bit ...of loose couching on the waves. ( See pic). The robe measures 54" long, 30" underarm to underarm. 43.5" from the neck to the end of the sleeves, and a front and back vent of 23". The sleeves incorporate purple silk between the silk gauze embroidery and the horseshoe cuff. This diaphanous finely couched summer robe created for a Chinese Official appears to have never been worn! Buyer pays shipping. All purchases over $100 USD must be insured.
