Anabsolutely brilliant collection of early Opal recordings (just post Rain Paradeand Dream Syndicate). This is, in my opinion, the high point of this band's careerand is packed with brilliant songs.
I would... have thought that this was the template for Galaxie 500, but whilethese recordings were made in around 1984, most didn't see release until 1989.
Some tracks appeared earlier under the names Clay Allison (as a Bucketful OfBrains giveaway single) and as Smith-Roback-Mitchell (with a 12" onSerpant US and Rough Trade UK), but this includes most of this bands earlyrecordings.
As a bonus here you get the track "Hear The Wind Blow" which was noton the LP version of this release. This track would later be covered by DeanWareham and Britta Phillips of Luna on their 2003 album "L'Avventura". Northern Line would be later covered by The Old 97's andShalini of the band Shalini would record Fell From The Sun with her first bandVinyl Devotion.
This is a rich and beautiful psyche-folk album with a dedicated following.
