This delightful pair of bookends are like rare books, meant to be treasured. Each has a monk seated on a stool, reading an open book. Each base and backstop is designed and carved to look like closed books with carved page lines and reddish page edges. The monks have reddish-brown robes, black skull caps above whitish tonsures of hair, and rosy cheeks and lips. Each has carved hands holding the open books, and slightly furrowed brows as if what they are reading is deep and meaningful. ...Their carved ears add another distinctive touch.Each bookend stands 6 inches high, 3.5 inches wide, and 6.5 inches long. There are no marks, stickers or signatures on the bookends. There are no scuffs, scratches, chips, or repairs. On the back of one is a very faint remnant of a sticker (perhaps price). They are in excellent condition.I am downsizing and selling some of my collections. I try to make my description and photos as accurate as possible.
