OLD S. S. COCA COLA BOTTLE BEARDSTOWN, ILLINOIS - RINK BOTTLING CO. SLUG PLATE
Item History & Price
Emil Edward Rink owned this Beardstown Coca Cola plant. They also distributed Anheuser-Busch beer.
&...nbsp;This bottle features, in a slug plate, "Coca Cola Bottling Co." on both sides on the shoulder. It also has a rib around the neck, a nice characteristic. And on the bottom, it has the big "R". It was first bottled in Beardstown, Illinois by the Rink Bottling Company. Below the Coca Cola slug plate name, it states, "Beardstown, Ill." on both sides. On the bottom heel, it states, "Minimum Contents 6 1/2 FLUID OZ." I do not know who made this bottle. Root Glass and Chattanooga Glass were the largest producer of early Coca Cola bottles, but this one has a diamond on the bottom, which may suggest that Owens Corning made it.
The numbers, "1953 27" on the heel of the bottle. That may suggest a date of this bottle. The bottle is made of heavy glass. The bottle has plenty of patina and could use a cleaning, but no chips or cracks.
