Vintage Edward vom Hofe "Star" German Silver & Hard Rubber Reel - Engraved 1890 - is in excellent, uncleaned condition. The reel spool spins freely when the handle is turned and the click works fine. There are no cracks in the hard rubber and the foot has not been modified. This 1890's era reel appears to be a collaboration between Edward vom Hofe and his brother Julius vom Hofe since it contains the Julius 1867 gear bridge patent design. You can see a 1890 catalog picture of this Star... reel in the photo below. The Star was Edward vom Hofe's most expensive reel back then. The name engraved on the reel is "Fred Johnson."
