This is hands down one of the finest grained pipes I have ever seen, a truly remarkable piece! Anne Julie of Denmark was the world's first high grade pipe carver. Learning the art from Hans "Former" Nielsen after her husband Poul Rasmussen passed away, she quickly took to the craft and has been a legend ever since. This is an earlier piece, an incredible 3/4 bent Ball shape showing Apple and Tomato characteristics as well. It's a large and sturdy pipe that rests firmly in the hand with... its wide bowl and has ultra thick walls surrounding the Group 4 size chamber. It transitions gracefully to a 3/4 bent shank that is even with the top of the bowl meeting the original vulcanite stem with straight bit and red/white dot logo however it is recessed and has deteriorated a bit. The finish is a warm walnut stain while the briar displays easily in the top 10 finest straight grain I have ever seen!! It looks painted on with a brush as the fine angel hair wraps almost 360 degrees and the bottom shows more birdseye than you could hope for, absolutely loaded. Despite some minor aesthetics, this Anne Julie is overall in excellent condition where it counts and is one to be treasured.

Condition: Very Good. Chamber is clean and sound. Draft hole is a bit high. Rim shows residual darkening on the inner edge and some light scratches. Stem is original but the red/white dot logo is recessed/deteriorated a bit. There are also bite hole repairs made near the bit but are very well done, smooth and perfect blending in nicely. Overall fantastic! Weight: 70g
