Hi, I'm Corrinne Askaroff, Daughter in Law of Alex Askaroff, owner of the worldfamous Sewalot Collection and author of Isaac Singer, The First Capitalist. Peopleoften ask how Alex has such wonderful machines in his collection. Well, growingup in the sewing industry he has been collecting for over 45 years. A long-standingmember of the Guild of Master Craftsmen it has been his luck to be reallychoosy from the countless machines he has come across over the decades. He hasalways kept the ...best for his personal Sewalot Collection featured ontelevision.Hehas decided to sell just a handful of his collection, which I have offered tohelp with,  and as I have a 100% feedback rating with eBay, you can bidwith absolute confidence.   Examplesof comments received from happy customers:Alex thatwas some packing.  Thought I had seen good packing before but this wassomething else!!Dear Alex, Thank you, thank you, thank you!! The machine is absolutely top notch and the packing jobyou did was unbelievable. Hello Alex, I justwanted you to know that your lovely machine arrived stateside in fine form. Youare truly a marvel at packaging, there cannot be anyone better, I remain inawe!  Thereis more information on his Sewalot Site, the No1 site of itskind in the world. It's worth a visit and see his YouTube clips on old sewingmachines. Nowlet's talk about this beautiful Willcox & Gibbs, as described by Alex.
James Edward Allen Gibbs was a farmer who rarely saw theoutside world. When he came across a picture of a Grover & Baker machine hedecided to try and copy it. Because he had only seen the top half of themachine he had to imagine how the bottom would work and invented a uniquemachine. People say Gibbs designed the machine in the shape of the letter G, after his initial. What he had not realised was that he had invented acompletely new method of sewing, the chain stitch. In fact he did not evenpatent it for a while. He teamed up with business partner, Charles Willcox andbetween them they made one of the most famous sewing machines in the world.  The stunning British cast hand cranks were only fitted tothe models imported to Great Britain. I have lots of history and patent detailson my Sewalot site and YouTube. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to own a great pieceof sewing history - (Serial No: A339889). She will be pride of place in any display. Whether you areinvesting in the history of your country or making authentic Civil War clothesthis is the beauty that ticks all the boxes. The stitch is identical to thechain stitch of the period. She is complete and makes a lovely stitch, with asample enclosed. To find one complete, boxed and stitching is unusual. Tofind one in such a condition owned by one family is simply amazing. Thepictures are all of Cecil who lived in St Leonards and owned the machine untilshe was 91.
Whencollecting old, vintage and rare machines I always say there are only threethings to remember, condition, condition and condition. Few come more completeor finer than this beautiful hand sewing machine she simply is stunning. Ofcourse there is a full money back guarantee if you are not delighted.Weship worldwide with a seven-day delivery to America, Canada and Australia.Delivery to America & Canada fully insured by air, three to five daydelivery is $83, United Kingdom is £15.
