6TH CENTURY LARGE BRONZE FRANKISH BOW BROOCHThe item for sale is a ca. 6th century AD. Frankish Bronze Bow Brooch comprising a rectangular headplate with D-section collared knops to three edges, squarish footplate and beast-head finial; pin-lug and catchplate to the reverse. Weighs 68 grams, 1...28.03 mm (5.04"). Fine condition: this has been heavily cleaned, possibly repaired with a re-patina, that said a nice clean display brooch.Has a dark brown bronze patina.
