17th Century Lantern Brass Clock England Christopher Ebsworth London
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:298718 | Clock Type: Lantern Clock |
I have a lantern brass clock in bronze I received as part of my family succession. I did few research and see that this style was popular in the 17th century,
Unfortunately the clock is not in the best of condition as it is missing the alarm dial from the centre of the dial , it is also missing all of the alarm work and also some of the escapement and side panels as per enclosed pictures.
You can se...e the inscription written in the front from the maker: Christopher Ebsworth in Beth, Lem Londini Fecit.
Very little is known about this maker but we do know that he was apprenticed to John Ames in 1662 and became Free of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1670.
