Here is a lovely antique accessory for vanity or dressing room. It is a clothes brush – the top is a china half doll with both arms bent to the right shoulder. The doll has “marcelled” bobbed hair with right part, nicely painted facial feature s with pale pink bodice and white collar on the blouse. Her hips are tied with ribbon to make a sash over the brush skirt. I am unable to see the markings but this half doll was probably made in G...ermany and attached to the brush at a later date. Half-dolls were used for many purposes – as handles on powder boxes, finials on lamps, and of course handles on brushes.
