Item up for sale is a wonderful vintage Zippo standard size lighter made for the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Underside of the base bears the Zippo marking with 4 marks on the left of the name and 3 on the right indicating this piece was made in 1967. As you can see in the photos the lid does not want to close all the way so the hinge will need some work. Insert bears a zippo marking on the side and shows signs of use. Lighter will need fluid and flint to operat...e as intended. The original owner of the lighter engraved his name "Flossie Lail Sigmon" onto the back of the casing with a line of hand engraved stars above and below the name and a date of 1971 hand engraved under the name and stars. On the front of the casing the serviceman engraved "slave house" on the sides of the building indicating his thoughts about the place. The front of the lid is hand engraved with "July 1969 Apollo 11 First Lunar Landing Armstrong Aldrin Collins" all surrounded by hand engraved stars and dots.The top edge and sides are covered in hand engraved stars. It is easy to see that this serviceman had a lot of time on his hands while working at "the slave house". Fantastic piece that comes fresh to the market from a recent estate buyout. We are pleased to offer a 14 day, no questions asked return policy. If you don't like an item for any reason just contact us a.s.a.p. and just mail it back to us and you get a full refund of your purchase price. It's as simple as that.
We know full well the value of every cent so any item over $50 will be shipped insured to provide you with the greatest protection and leave you with no risk.
Due to the rising cost of shipping supplies we have been forced to follow many other professional sellers in charging a handling fee. Fee is estimated based upon costs of previous items we have shipped that are in the size and shape range of this item with consideration given to how fragile the item will be to ship.
Payment in full is expected within 7 days of the end of a listing. Items not paid for will result in the item being relisted and being blocked from future bidding or buying.
Sometimes smells miss our noses and we are unaware of their presence. For this reason, we can not guarantee items to be free from various smells, however if we notice anything we are sure to put it in the listing.
