Rare 1932 PICTURE MAP OF CHINA Friendship Press Frank Randolph Southard 38x50 inches PICTURE MAP OF CHINA. Copyright 1932 by G. Q. LeSourd. Friendship Press, 150 Fifth Avenue, New York. A decorative map which may be colored, together with an Insert Sheet containing informative notes and twenty five outline sketches to be colored and pasted on the map. Designed by Frank Randolph Southard. It is said this is the only large format pictorial map of China published in the USA prior to WW...II. Unfolds to a massive 38 x 50 inches. When folded, displays a small version of the map on one back panel. Includes the insert sheet as well, a rare bonus. Condition: as you can see, the map is edge toned, lightly soiled and discolored (on the back side only), and has short tears at a few of the the fold corners, but is well worthy of some simple repair and flattening, suitable for framing. A fancy map dealer was asking over $2000 for one of these on ebay a few months ago. Most the ones that were available elsewhere on the net are now sold. There's one on Abe for $1900.
