Large Antique Civil War Confederate D Guard Bowie Knife, 21 ", Wood Grip, CSA, RARE

Item History & Price

Information:
Reference Number: Avaluer:3648859
Original Description:
This is a large D Guard Bowie Knife that I was told would have been carried by a Confederate. Soldier in the Civil War. The knife measures 21" and the blade is 16". The leather attachment that has been riveted to handle is quite unique. The blade and guard are pitted, as are many of these inexpensive knives that the Confederate Soldiers used. The steel is very hard with no flex to it, and is about 1/4 thick at widest point. This has been in a collection in Texas for many years owned by... a very good friend. Unfortunately he is not able to converse anymore to ask specifics about knife and how long he actually owned it. If I recall this knife along with some other CW relics came out of a Deaccessioned Museum in Central Texas many years ago. This was recently removed by Ebay because I made it available to some Countries it was not allowed in. Shipping for this knife will be to USA only.
If you have any questions my phone number is under my contact information. Click "Contact Seller" and look around you will find it. This is part of Ebay's new program.
Please note that all items over $50.00 will include insurance with the shipping amount, as it is not my responsibility to cover the mishandling of an item by the Postal System. All of our items are very securely packed.
I will do my best to work with out of Country buyers and will not list items under $50.00 with the "Global Shipping" option. US Postal rates increased a lot this year. If you have good feedback, or have done business with me in the past I will consider less expensive shipping options, but please keep in mind I have to protect myself on the more expensive items. As always shipping will be combined on multiple purchases. Thanks for looking, and GOOD LUCK!............ ALL ITEMS TO BE PAID FOR WITHIN 3 DAYS UNLESS PREVIOUS ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE........  Please read the description, and ask any questions you may have. I would like this to be a 5 star experience for you..........
US Buyers: I have no control over the prices charged by the USPS. The prices for shipping as well as packing supplies keep going up. I try to keep them as manageable as possible. International buyers:  If you want to pay by another method other than Paypal, I will gladly ship your item any way you want. If you want to pay through Paypal please read the rules carefully that follow......  Unfortunately, some international buyers are NOT playing fair. They are making Buyer Protection complaints for items not received - and unless a U.S. seller can PROVE the item was received, we have no recourse and eBay refunds your money, FROM US. Its strange how all of a sudden, people aren't getting their stuff. If bid price is under $50.00 we can ship First Class International. If the end bid price is $50.00 or more we MUST ship Express Mail International ONLY through the United States Post Office. We will not ship by any other means for international buyers. Paypal only recognizes Express Mail Shipping because it is the only option that offers tracking which protects both the buyer and seller. Please refrain from bidding if you are unwilling to pay for this form of shipping. This does cost more than First Class Mail and Priority Mail. If you would like a shipping quote - please ask PRIOR to bidding. If we grossly over estimate the shipping we will refund you the difference so that you are paying the exact shipping. There will be no exceptions. Please consider these shipping methods and prices before bidding. We will not negotiate after the auction is over. We also will not falsify U.S. Government Postal Customs forms. This is against the law and subject to penalty. If your country charges you a duty tax, please consider this as a part of your overall price and don't ask us to lie for you.             If we have done good honest business in the past this will not be necessary.
