This vintage Chinese qipao cheongsam green silk brocade phoenix fenghuang banner dress dates from the 1940s. It is made of an emerald green color silk background with colorful jewel tones damask weave flowers, Chinese phoenix fenghuang bird woven pattern brocade fabric. The mythical... fenghuang Chinese phoenix bird is a symbol of high virtue and grace. There is an emerald green silk fabric lining inside with matching decorative trim edging and green, yellow, red silk trim edging, spiral scrolling padded trim toggle closures. Manchu women wore a one-piece dress which were called "qipao" or "banner dress" and later became the traditional dress for Chinese women. This gorgeous green Chinese cheongsam dress has a form fitting style, is a long below the knee length, with a mandarin collar, short sleeves, side slit vents, snaps, knotted silk toggle closures along the side and is fully lined in a green fine silk fabric with green silk trimmed edging. The dress measures 49 inches long, with a 36 inch bust, 36 inch waist, 40 inch hips and a 14 inch neck. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful quality custom made piece of Chinese cheongsam wearable art!
