This is a stunning J.W.Benson London half hunter silver cased pocket watch. The case has crisp Birmingham Assay hallmarks for 1929.The J.W.Benson 17 jewels Swiss movement has lever escapement and balance wheel with timing screws and Breguet overcoil hairspring and with patent regulator, bright guilt ¾ plate. The watch is in full working order keeping extremely good time to within a minute over the wind of the watch and the regulator is in the centre position so there is lots of room ...for adjustment should it be required. The watch has just had a full service by my watch repairer. The watch is crown wind and set.The A.L.Dennison solid sterling silver watch case is in marvelous condition with very little pocket wear. The hinges are all in good condition and all the lids close nice and tight just as they should. The front lid will spring open when the crown wind is pressed down showing that the front lid opening mechanism is working perfectly. The front lid lens has black Roman numerals around the outside so the front lid need not be opened to tell the time, very useful if on horseback hence the name Half Hunter.The mint condition white enamel dial has minute markers around the outside and bold black Roman numerals and sunken subsidiary seconds dial.
