These were the firs...t collection of silver and gold sculptures ever created by Sascha. They were issued by Franklin Mint every three months back in 1976-77 and were very expensive even back then. Note, at the time these were issued, the pieces each came with a certificate of authenticity but somewhere through the years, these certificates were lost. The presentation boxes are also missing. The Clown (approx. 4"), with his big bow tie and funny hat, stands in the spotlight and goes into his juggling act to the delight of the watching crowd.The Butterfly Girl (approx 5.5" total), dazzling in her spangled tights and exotic butterfly wings, performs her daring acrobatic feats on a single rope.The Ringmaster (approx. 4"), dressed in his elegant costume and top hat snaps his whip above his head and announces that an exciting new act is about to begin in the center ring!The Dancing Horse (approx. 4"), lifts its plumed head high, stands gracefully on its hind legs and prepares to receive the much deserved applause of the admiring throng.The Circus Lion (approx. 3"), with his great golden mane, cunningly awaits the challenge of the courageous lion tamer.The Performing Seal (approx. 3"), miraculously balances the proverbial ball on its nose - as young and old alike look on in awe.Also included are two stands upon which the lion and seal perform...this makes for a total of 8 pieces in the set.
Each of the six figures above and the two stands are crafted in a unique combination of silver and gold. Together they weigh over 38oz. The figures themselves are solid sterling silver, and the details embellished with pure 24 karat gold - to capture the extravagance and grandeur of the circus.
Very rare Collection. This looks beautiful displayed behind glass in a curio cabinet. The sterling silver simply gleams!
