There is a little bit of rust on the ends of both books, which is somewhat intentional, as I made no attempt to try to clean them up. I like them just the way they are. New pair of something different in terms of what you can use to hang a plant. Out with the new, in with the owls!They stand approximately 5 inches tall, and the hook comes out about 5.75 inches
