Native American breast plate. All original no restoration. I had this authenticated and appraised by butterfield and butterfield 26 years ago. Butterfield and butterfield did what antiques road shows does now a days. I purchased this from a local private collector and he thought it was Cheyenne or Cherokee but it could be one of Native plains IndiansThese are rare to find for sale so few have survived.Possible other makers Comanche-Chippewa-Kiowa-Apache-Ponca-Pawnee-arapaho-Assiniboine.... This was likely made during the reservation period circa 1890’s.I’ve made a display case so it can be displayed on a wall. The case measures 33x18 inches wide. It is made from Calvary harness and has 34 bone hairpipe tubes on the left side and 35 on the right side . There are 34 rows of 3 white glass trade beads. There are 6 brass buttons two of which are bins co. British India steam navigation co. The tubes are attached with buckskin cord and the beads are sinew tied.measures 17 inches x9-1/2 inches wide. This very special item would have been made for trade to barter for manufactured goods such as knives kettles beads needles blankets clothing household items tools liquor coffee tea tobacco and many other items that the trading co or general merchandise store would have. I can ship ups or usps and would pack carefully so that it will make it to you with no damage. There are 6 Sioux arrowheads . I believe the 5 small ones are knife river flint.the large one comes with paper and is marked spiro mound which is in Oklahoma and the other small points are from grant county , North Dakota. This was valued by the appraiser 26 years ago 9hundred to 11 hundred this took place at the local theater that many years ago . No appraisal certificate but a verbal appraisal every one that had an item appraised paid 20 dollars.
