If this 79 year old Dunhill was smoked more than twice I'd be surprised as you can still see the clamp marks in the chamber which typically disappear after one smoke. This LB 8 shows off super craggy blast indicative of the Era when only the finest Algerian briar was used. Incredible ring grain on the left and birdseye blast on the right with deep red finish. It has super thick walls with a very chubby shank. The stem is original with crisp white spot. While this Patent number was for ...U.S. bound pipes and dates back to the 1930's, the difference is the lack of an "S" after "DUNHILL" which tells us the pipe is 1940. An incredible specimen from months before the factory was destroyed by a German bomb. A rare find especially in this condition! Nomenclature: DUNHILL SHELL, MADE IN ENGLAND0, LB 8, U.S. PATENT 1341418/20 Dimensions: 5 7/8" Long, 1 15/16" Tall, 7/8" Chamber W, 1 3/4" Chamber D Condition: Excellent. Chamber is clean showing very light use. Stem is original but was quite oxidized and once buffed to shiny black a small amount of vulcanite was lost resulting in the stem being slightly smaller in diameter than the shank. Superb and rare old Dunhill ready to smoke! Be sure to check out my other fine and rare pipes and follow me as a seller to be updated on my fresh listings. -Deadmanspipes
