offeredis a very nice unused in box 1940's art deco solid silver dunhill"service" pocket petrol lighter. the lighter features a windproof thumb activated snap upmechanism. the side is marked sterling and the fuel screw is silver-plated as original made. the screw reads - "dunhill service lighter made in usa pat pend". the american made dunhill wartime ww2 service lighter wasinvented by irving florman of new york in 1943 - see patent sketches. i have also shown a 1945 dunhill catalogue ...with this model and the photo from dunhill lighter book. the lighter measures about 2-3/8" tall x almost 7/8" across and is in excellent unusedcondition. the mechanism is untested and should operate with properservice. an old flint may require removal for use and lighter sold as a collectible. there is a wonderful rich frosty silver patina that should be kept for investment value but would cleanwith care and the dunhill will sparkle. the patina looks better in person. the fuel screw has some typical age finish spots. the original carry pouch is torn and wrinkled. overall - rare unused 1943 trench solid silver dunhill "service" lighter in original box for your collection. very fine example of a dunhill sterling silver service lighter in boxcatalogue - patent - book photos not included in salelighter sold as a collectibleusa is usps priority ship. overseas is priority airmail except the SHIP COST to italy-china-HK-india-eastern europe-russia-greece-taiwan- via usps priority mail - $40.
