This is a Gentleman’s large antique J.W.Benson silver case open face pocket watch.The silver case has London assay office hallmarks for 1907.The J.W.Benson 13 jewels English movement with lever escapement and split balance wheel with timing screws and Breguet overcoil hair spring is in working order but the hands are not turning and need some attention so I am selling the watch for spares or repair. The ¾ gilt plate is marked “The Ludgate'' movement number 2662. Great ticking ord...er. The watch is key wind and set and comes with a key.The J.W.B silver watch case is a bit battered with some indentations and undulation caused I would think by the watch chain that was used and loose coins in the pocket the watch was kept in, a large watch this one 55 mm in diameter and weighs 160 grams. Nice handsome silver bow.The dial has some faint hairlines running from the centre and a small chip at about 5 o'clock and minute markers around the outside and bold black Roman numerals and with subsidiary seconds dial original gold tone spade hands and thick clear mineral crystal.
