QianlongBeijing enamel Buddhist ritual cup shaped like prayer wheel 18th C This is anextremely rare Buddhist ritual cup, copper made and decorated with colorfulBeijing enamels. It is made in three parts, the stand, the cup and the cover. Shaped like a Tibetan prayer wheel (called Mani wheelsby the Tibetans). Thecolorful decoration has four Buddhist Fire Wheels, encircling four polychromemythical beasts, a Dragon, a Phoenix, a Turtle and a Kilin or Chimera. All on a Swastika ...gilded pattern onbright blue background. Pink lotus blossom for finial, and pink lotus petalsencircling it and the stem of the stand. Flowers and other patterns all around.Made inthe Qianlong period, 18th Century. Extremely rare, the only one thatI have ever seen.Guaranteedas described. SIZE: 20.5cm high, 8 inches. Conditions:All the parts have some loss of enamels, as expected on this type of ware, notoriously prone to this type of damage due to thethin metal and the rigid, fragile enamels. These losses are as said on allparts, the more evident can be seen in the pictures, highlighted by the yellow arrows, plus other minor here and there. The biggestone is on the cup, showing an old restoration.To my taste, these losses adds charm to the piece, recalling its history. Butthey can be restored if you wish.
