RAM Ls3/5a Speakers. Extremely rare. Only a couple of hundred pairs ever manufactured.Impedence: 15 ohms
If you're viewing this listing then you know what you're looking at - these speakers need no introduction.They sound absolutely fantastic. Matching serial numbers.
These speakers were passed on to me as an inheritance from a friend who passed away, who had owned them from new.
In excellent condition. There is one tiny mark on the back top corner of one speake...r - please see photo 9. This is barely noticeable - it measures approx 3mm x 1mm and is almost always out of view. The perfectionist could put a tiny amount of wood stain or something similar to make it look perfect but it really is miniscule and is out of view. There's also a tiny mark on the top front edge of one speaker - this didn't even show up in all of the photos so I took a close up - please see the last photo. Again this is barely noticeable. Aside from these, the speakers are flawless. I am being very picky here for the sake of completeness. They really do look - and sound - beautiful.

This article is an interview by RAM founder Vince Jennings who co-founded the company in 1974. In it, Vince says that RAM took over one of the three LS3/5A licenses from Chartwell in 1978 after Chartwell went into liquidation. There are four small holes in the back of each speaker cabinet that have secured the speakers to a stand or fixture. See photos. There are also four small padded "feet" on the bottom of each speaker. These look to be self adhesive. I would imagine that these could be removed if you wanted - or they could be left on to give a cushioned contact with the surface beneath. They are completely out of view being on the underside.

There has been considerable interest in these speakers. I have been asked if there is a buy it now price. There will not be a buy it now price. Due to the scarcity and condition of these RAM LS3/5a speakers and in fairness to all bidders, the auction will run its course. These are rarest of the rare LS3/5A that will complete any collection. How many of the "couple of hundred pairs" of RAM LS3/5a's ever made are left, let alone in this condition? When will another pair in this condition ever come up for sale? Bid accordingly - the highest bidder will be the lucky new owner.

There is also a small mark on the bottom rear corner of one speaker - see the last 4 photos in the second link above (bottom right hand corner in photos 2 & 3). This is also largely out of view when the speaker is positioned on a surface - and it is also at the rearmost bottom corner so out of sight. I would imagine that it could be touched in with stain or similar to satisfy the perfectionist but it is very minor.
There is a small mark on the underside at the front edge of the other speaker - please see the first image in the second link above (bottom right hand corner in the photo.) This is only on the underside and the front of the cabinet is perfect. Accordingly, this is absolutely out of view when the speaker is on a surface.
I have photographed and included these points to show anything that appears to be less than pristine. They are beautiful.
