"The Little Indian Comes Alive"
Dick Winger showed up at the AMCAnational meet at Eustis, Florida with a 50% scale working model of an IndianV-twin engine built by Tom Sieber of Chula Vista, California. Whereas a real Indian twin, circa 1907, weighs about 88 pounds, Sieber's tinyreplica weighs only 20. Proving beyond a doubt that the little engine runs, Dick Winger arrived withit installed in a scaled-down chassis that he had built from scratch during thelast 45 days. (This all took place in 2009 I believe).
Winger jokes, "Does this mean I have too much time on my hands?"Sieber, has built five of the little Indians, and was on hand at this meet toresearch the idea of building a miniature Indian eight-valve.
He estimates that designing and fabricating the first miniature Hedstrom-typetwin required approximately 300 hours. Sieber’s decision to finally tackle a replica motorcycle engine came after he saw his first Hedstrom-type Indian twin on display at a museum in San Diego. He says, “I thought it was a beautiful engine, and possibly simple enough for my first attempt.” He began to create patterns for the engine simply by working from pictures. This is one of the "Little Indians" that Tom Sieber built!! This V-Twin came from the estate of an avid Indian Motorcycle collector. It is complete, nothing missing, literally ready to run. Here is your chance to own one of the few ever built, they just don't come available to own. This engine is no. 3B01.
Rare addition to any Indian collection! (The last photo shows the comparison of the Sieber V-Twin and a full size V-Twin, the full size engine and/or the photo are not included in this auction).
