Rare and original, ca1910’s Complete Deck of Boswell’s Brewery Beer Advertising Playing Cards in its original, slip-case type box.
The original, slip case style Box measures approx 2 3/4" by 3 3/4" and the cards themselves each measure 2 1/2" x 3 5/8". The Deck includes all 52 Playing Cards(no Joker was issued) and was manufactured by Montreal Lithographing Company of Montreal, Canada. The Deck also retains a significant amount of the original tissue wrap... and appear to have never been used.
The Card fronts are typical designs of the period while the Ace of Spades features the trade mark of the Montreal Lithographing Company. The back of each card features an image of the label from an early 20th century long neck Bottle of Boswell’s India Ale. The slip-case box features a playing card from the deck with its back displayed on one side and Advertising on the other that reads “Boswell’s Brewery / Established 1668 / The Oldest in Canada”.
This rare and original, Complete Deck of 1910’s Bosewell’s India Ale Advertising Playing Cards is in excellent condition. The Deck of Cards itself is in near mint, unused condition - complete as issued with 52 Playing Cards (no Joker was issued). The Cards are clean and crisp - “as new” and wrapped in remnants of the original paper wrapper. The paperboard, slip-case Box is in very good condition – sound, complete and intact with light wear at the top edge.
