Daum, a glassworks in Nancy, France, was started by Jean Daum in 1875. The company, now called Cristalleries de Nancy, is still working. The Daum Nancy mark has been used in many variations. The name of the city and the artist are usually both included. Early wares by Daum often had heraldic crests and were cut or enameled. The term marteleis used to describe applied decorations that are carved or etched in the cameo process.
