We are offering for sale a fabulous quality French silver-gilt sugar castor. With beautifully chased decoration in the form of flower festoons and swags and an all over gilding (gold-wash), this good-sized sugar castor just oozes high class. A further sign of superior quality is the threaded cover (mostly they are the easier to make pull-on, pull-off type), which prevents unfortunate accidents! The castor was made during the first few years of the 20th century in Paris by the prem...ier silversmiths Risler & Carre. 
This sugar castor or dredger has a good, solid weight and is in fine condition throughout. Please view our specialist site at antiquesilverspoons for a further large selection of fine quality Victorian, Georgian and earlier silver.  MEASUREMENTS: 18.5cm (7.3") high; 5cm (2") diameter base; 220 grams (7.1 tr.oz.) weight. MARKS: Stamped in various places with appropriate French 1st standard silver marks (guaranteeing 958 standard silver) for Paris circa 1905 by A.
