NOTE: I am selling this speaker AS IS. I unfortunately cannot answer technical questions, as the elderly owner is no longer in a position to do any tests and provide me with answers.
When I picked up the speaker from the owner, he had it connected and playing music, so the speaker works. See below for SHIPPING AND INSURANCE INFO. THE SPEAKER WILL BE SOLD ONLY IN/WITH THE CABINET. The cabinet dimensions are: 23 12" tall x 17 1/2" wide x... 10" deep.
The speaker box is rustic, scratched, and unattractive. Photos are substandard, but I didn't want to remove the speaker from the box.
I am selling this speaker for an elderly gentleman who worked as an engineer for Bose Corp for more than 30 years. He built the speaker box per the speaker specifications and provided me with the detailed information below, which he wrote in 2017.
BEGINNING OF GENTLEMAN'S INFO:
The 755A loudspeaker is in a non-ported plywood cabinet built per the specifications of Western Electric (in terms of volume and stiffness) by myself around 1954 to 1960. It has permanent magnets. Please note that this loudspeaker is max rated for very low power compared to products produced now in 2017. Thus could very easily be burned out just connected to today’s amplifiers.

This was a voice speaker developed for the Bell Telephone system to provide intelligible, natural-sounding voices in offices, phone booths and railway platforms. “This 8 inch full range driver has achieved a “cult status” amongst audio aficionados.” http://vintagehifiexperience.blogspot.com/2006/08/western-electric-755a-fullrange.html (This web page appears to be changing.)
Western Electric was forced to divest of its speaker business and Altec was created to continue to produce 755a and develop movie theater sound systems. Altec Lansing produced a line of loudspeakers and accessories, plus audio electronics, as did Western Electric before.
SHIPPING AND INSURANCE:
The speaker weighs 24 pounds. I am allocating 40 pounds for shipping to account for extensive padding and double boxing of the speaker. A charge of $50 for insurance will be added to the buyer's shipping cost.
