VINTAGE EMMETT KELLY JR. HOBO THE CLOWN ESCO CHALKWARE 18" STATUE IN NEED OF TLC. Condition is Used.This is a vintage chalkware statue, made by esco in 1986, of Emmett Kelly Jr dressed as the hobo clown. I found this this afternoon at a garage sale, it was standing under one of the folding tables in the driveway. I walked by it once on the way in, and again on the way out, but before I got to my car I turned back to rescue It. It's one redeeming quality, and main factor in my decision ...to purchase it, is that despite all the paint loss, and chips in the material, it is for the most part completely intact. There are no large missing, or broken, parts that I can see after comparing it to photos of a other one on ebay. What it needs is for someone who enjoys restoring these statues to take it in and give it some tender loving care. These can be somewhat pricey in excellent condition. Currently there are only 2 for sale here on ebay for $115 and $155. As it is I was able to buy it for a good price so I'm pricing it to sell quickly, and shortening the auction to 5 days, so don't hesitate, BID! These statues are usually signed on the back of the pedestel it stands on with hand etched letters in the chalkware, but these are barely visible. I took some closeups of the areas where a few letters and numbers can still be seen a bit.
