This vintage Sascha Brastoff Hand Painted Ceramic Trinket Box was created between 1947 and 1953.
The lid is decorated in varying shades of teal (or green) and black, with gold details. Hand painted geometric designs include freeform hash marks and segmented pod shapes placed against a matte cream-colored background glaze. The distinctive "Sash B" signature written in gold is in the lower left corner. Very Mid Century Modern look!
There is no painting on the sides of the... lid.
Excellent vintage condition with no cracks or crazing. There is one slight 1/4" chip on the bottom left side of the lid that is barely noticeable and does not detract from overall appearance of the piece. There's also one slight imperfection on the box corner that can be seen up close in the right hand corner of the box photo. The underside of the lid is marked in gold with a rooster over the signature "Sascha Brastoff’ “California USA" and the design number 021.
This Sascha Brastoff piece measures 4" long x 5 1/2" wide x 2" tall with lid on.
